  • Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, about 20 miles outside of the city, is a swampy park filled with old trees and stunning views named after the French pirate Jean Lafitte. Many trails are closed due to Hurricane Ida, but check out Twin Canals Trail, Visitor Center Trail, Bayou Coquile Trail, and Christmas Road Trail
  • Audubon Park and Zoological Gardens
    • Park across from Tulane University and Loyola University in beautfiul Uptown with great views of the river
    • Accessible via streetcar from the conference center
  • City Park is a 1,300-acre (526ha) green sprawl with multiple waterways, a sculpture garden, a stadium, a driving range, and the Museum of Art. Visit the Botanical Gardens to see prehistoric plants, giant staghorn ferns and exotic purple orchids woven around trickling cascades, rock formations and ornamental bridges.
    • Ride the tilt-a-whirl at the olde-worlde Carousel Gardens amusement park
    • At the time of the conference, City Park will be having its seasonal Celebration in the Oaks. During this family-friendly event, the park is full of lights. There is a narrow gauge train that goes around the park, a kid-friendly amusement park, a historic Story Land nursery rhyme-themed playground, minigolf, a Cafe du Monde, a botanical garden, a statue garden, the New Orleans Art Museum, and much more.
