These full or discounted registration waivers are intended to help those who need financial assistance to attend the Fire Congress and to increase the diversity of congress attendees and AFE members. Thanks to our sponsors and congress supporters who are making this possible!
What does the scholarship provide?
Free or discounted registration to the Fire Congress and a one-year membership to AFE (total value up to $540).
Who Can Apply?
We encourage anyone, including U.S. federal employees, who needs financial assistance to attend the Fire Congress to apply. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on the criteria below (you do not have to meet all criteria to apply).
- Financial Need: Will the applicant be unable to attend without the registration waiver?
- Diversity: Will the applicant increase the diversity of people and perspectives represented at the Fire Congress? This can be answered in many ways and is an open-ended question so applicants can self-describe. For example, applicants may be a typically underrepresented agency/organization, profession or career status, discipline, race or ethnicity, nationality, disability, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
- Congress Participation: Is the applicant a presenter or organizing a session at the event? Is the applicant willing to be a volunteer? Is the applicant a first-time Fire Congress attendee?
- Local Participation: Does the applicant work in the area served by the Southwest Fire Science Consortium?
Applications Due: October 18 (extended)
