Photo Contest

We’re holding a photo contest in conjunction with the 2019 Fire Congress. Winning photos will be showcased throughout the Fire Congress and in future AFE materials (e.g., websites, publications, displays).

A team of judges will select an overall winner, runner up, and winners in 5 special categories: After the Fire, Animals and Fire, Fire in Motion, Fire Landscapes, People and Fire.

CONTEST RULES

Photographs must be the entrant’s original work, should be in color, and should be free from manipulation beyond routine color and tonal adjustments and cropping. Photos can be horizontal or vertical, with a  minimum of 2,500 pixels on the longest edge. Resolution (PPI) does not matter.  You may submit up to 3 photos for the contest.

Photos should be accompanied by a one or two sentence narrative that describes the image, and the geographic location and ecosystem in which it was taken.

Images must illustrate a principle of fire ecology, fire effects, fire management, or fire history/fire regime.

Entrants agree that AFE can publish the photo in conference materials if chosen, and that AFE can use the photo on their website and for other marketing purposes related to the calendar contest. Credit for the photograph will be given.

By submitting photos to this contest, the entrant verifies that they have obtained and have access to all necessary releases and agrees to hold AFE harmless against all claims and liabilities arising out of AFE’s display, publication and promotion or other use of each image submitted to AFE.
